The de jure official language of Tanzania is Swahili. However, English serves as the language of higher courts and is considered as the de facto language of Tanzania. De jure is a Latin expression which means "concerning law" and de facto means "concerning fact". Tanzania is one of the few African nations in which the local language has gained favor as the official language versus English. The Greystoke Safari Camp has six tents constructed in the traditional architecture of the region with wooden bandas. Each banda overlooks the beautiful Lake Tanganyika and has interiors done in the local dhow timbers. They are also furnished with modern amenities like flush toilets and running water showers and the open fronted dressing room is a charmer. You can take your meals in the main dining room which is lit up with traditional torches and has a well stocked library.
