If after hours spent in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, your eyeballs are frazzled and your feet are in dire need of one of the 9,000 park benches on offer, then Central Park is the place to head for recuperation.

Central Park has enjoyed its own renaissance since the 1980’s when a determined group of dedicated civic leaders and philanthropists invested in restoring the park and its reputation as a place of enjoyment for all.
With 250 acres of lawn, 130 acres of woodlands and 150 acres of lakes and streams, the Park’s facilities also include open-air and entertainment venues with programs that range from theatre performance such as the summer festivals of the ‘New York Shakespeare Festival, concert events with the New York Philharmonic, contemporary open-air concerts, spoken word, dance, comedy and film.
Recreational facilities also include over 6 miles of roadway regularly used by runners, joggers, walkers, inline skaters and bicyclists; rock climbing, ice skating (the rinks convert to outdoor swimming pools in summer), boating and kayaking. Or, for a more relaxing experience, take a ride in a Pedi cab or on the historic Carousel relocated from Coney Island in 1951.
