Excursion Near Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai is an important tourist destination located in the northernmost province of Thailand. Located 785 kilometers north of Bangkok, Chiang Rai is one of the most exotic and colorful places to visit in Thailand. An excursion of the Golden Triangle province involves a boat ride on the Chiang Sean Lake, a visit to a nearby hill tribe village, visit to the northern-most border town of Mae Sai and then back to Chiang Rai. An interesting spot in this entire journey is Sop Ruak, where Mae Sai and Mekong rivers converge and form the borders of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. The entire scenery can be best viewed from the hilltop pavilion of Wat Phra That. Mekong and Mae Kok rivers offer numerous adventure sports for visitors that include rafting, boating and elephant trekking. One can also go through the province using longtail boats, motorcycles and jeeps.
