Tourist Attractions In Upstate NY
Located in the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of North America is the third most populous state of US known as New York. The state of New York comprises of cities like New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers and Syracuse. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It also shares a water border with Rhode Island and an international border with Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

The entire New York state is divided into Upstate New York and Downstate New York. The region located on the north of New York metropolis is known as Upstate New York. Most of the region is characterized by vast mountain ranges, plateaus, beautiful lakes and gorgeous rivers. There are numerous attractive destinations that one can visit while being on a tour to upstate New York.
The most breathtaking of all is the Niagara River that houses a set of massive waterfalls known as the Niagara Falls. Located 17 miles off Buffalo, Niagara Falls is present on the international border separating the Canadian province of Ontario and New York. The best known tourist attraction at Niagara Falls is the Maid of the Mist boat cruise. Other interesting features include panoramic and aerial views on the falls from the ‘Flight of Angels’ helium balloon ride or by helicopter, guided trips along the American Falls using the Niagara Scenic Trolley, the Niagara Gorge Discovery center exhibiting the natural and local history of Niagara Falls, Aquarium of Niagara, Niagara Power Project visitor’s center and the Niagara Splash Water Park.
Other attractions in upstate New York region include the lakes like Lake Erie, Lake George, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Canandaigua Lake and Lake Ontario, Rivers like St. Lawrence, headwaters of the Delaware, Susquehanna, Hudson and Allegheny Rivers, Saratoga Springs, Watkins Glen State Park, Genesee River Falls near Rochester, City of Ithaca, Sharon Springs near Troy, Letchworth State Park and the city of Hudson. Apart from these, there are several museums and the Performing Arts Center that are worth a visit.
