Okinawa is the southernmost prefecture in Japan. It consists of few dozen small island in the southern half of Nansei Shoto, the island chain which stretches from Kyushu to Taiwan for about one thousand kilometers. On the other hand, Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan. Hokkaido is famous for its untamed wilderness with the many national parks that are present there. Many European visitors find it resembling Europe when it comes to its scenery with rolling fields and faux-German cottages. The capital of Hokkaido is Sapporo.
The best way to get from Okinawa to Hokkaido is by plane. Naha Airport, also known as Okinawa Airport, is served by Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways. You will land at the New-Chitose International Airport, which is 40 kilometers from Sapporo. Even Skymark Airlines operates from Okinawa to Hokkaido.
If you have the time, you can take the ferry or the train to from Okinawa to Hokkaido. However, these two options are time consuming and can make you feel very tired at the end of the journey. The best option available to travel from Okinawa to Hokkaido is by air.
